Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg admissions unit in a Level 1 trauma acute care setting, requiring EPIC proficiency and 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 15-bed acute Medical/Surgical admissions unit
• Unit cares for general Med/Surg patients ready for discharge from the ER but awaiting assignment to another unit
• 12-hour rotating day and night shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730) with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Floating required to other medical/surgical units as needed
• Uses EPIC for EMR, Zebra phones for communication, Omnicell for medication administration, and Aleris IV pumps
• Responsibilities include performing initial admissions and caring for patients until transfer to a new unit
• Navy blue scrubs are required as dress code
• Unit is new and fast-paced, with 8 hours of orientation provided
• Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible; those living within 60 to 80 miles will receive a local travel rate
• Must disclose any previous employment with Sanford Health for consideration

Requirements

• Active ND or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Level 1 trauma center experience required
• Prior experience with EPIC electronic medical records system
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
