Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with strong trauma and cardiac skills for a 48-hour night shift contract requiring TNCC and Epic experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a large, mixed adult ICU (39 beds, MICU/SICU/CICU/TICU pods) in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes complex medical, surgical, cardiac, neuro, and heavy trauma cases
• Common diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, multiple system trauma
• Typical RN to patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2, or rarely 1:3 depending on acuity
• 12-hour night shifts with a 48 hours per week schedule
• Floating is uncommon but may occur to adult MedSurg/Tele units with a 1:4 ratio if overstaffed
• Mandatory use of Epic for charting; Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter), and Omnicell are used
• May occasionally float to other adult units if overstaffed
• Orientation includes hospital and unit-specific training: one 12-hour shift and one 8-hour shift
• Strong interdisciplinary support with CNA, resource nurse, RT, and 24/7 intensivist coverage
• Weekend rotation attempted every other weekend, but not guaranteed
• No on-call duties required
• Up to 7 days RTO allowed (must extend contract to accommodate full 13 weeks), but no RTO during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August each year)
• Expected to wear navy scrubs
• Precepting students may be required
• Free parking is available on site

Requirements

• Active SD or compact RN license
• Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience (exclusive of travel), with 2 years preferred
• At least one prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certification (TNCC must be obtained before arrival)
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, ventilators, telemetry, IV meds (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), proning, and advanced critical care skills
• Epic charting experience required
• Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
• Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
