Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring an active NY RN license and proficiency with Epic charting.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting
• Day shift, three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 am - 7:00 pm) for a 13-week contract
• Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:7
• Assignment to specific MS/Tele unit will be made at time of offer
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• Float within skillset to other units as needed
• Every other holiday may be required
• Uses Epic EMR, experience required
• Primary responsibilities include monitoring cardiac rhythms, responding to rapid response and code situations, and managing IV and oxygen therapy
• Will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
• Must wear navy blue and white scrubs
• Time off and special scheduling requests must be submitted upon application
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must provide two professional references from a supervisor within the past two years
• Candidates may be called off up to three shifts during the contract

Requirements

• Active New York State RN license required (not compact, must be in hand at time of consideration)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in MS/Tele
• Must have acute care experience within the past 6 months
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management experience required
• Skilled in oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions
• Epic charting experience required
• RNs residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
