Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department role in a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital with EPIC EMR and specialized cardiac and stroke care.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Emergency Department of a large teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation
• 61-bed unit with potential surge capacity and an RN to patient ratio of approximately 1:4
• Night shift hours are 7P-7A, 12-hour shifts, with a 36-hour work week
• Weekend rotation required, working every other weekend
• Will float to affiliated Baldwin location if needed and within the ER as required
• Patients include a wide range of emergent cases such as chest pain, strokes, MVC, stabbings, and mental health
• EPIC is the EMR system used in the department
• Orientation includes 1 day of general education modules and 2 days of department-specific training
• Support staff includes CNAs, a unit secretary, charge nurse, dedicated transport team, phlebotomy, PICC team, RT, and 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage
• Central Telemetry is present in the ER
• Department uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, Phillips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, and various advanced emergency equipment
• Scrub color for RN is navy blue

• Manager approval is needed for requested time off

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• Must be able to pass an EKG competency exam (Basic Cardiac Rhythm)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience required
• Experience with drips such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
• Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB for consideration
• One professional reference from a supervisor or charge RN within the last year is required
• Must have been separated from work at any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after permanent position
