Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a NC or compact license and specialized pediatric cardiac ICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center within a 20-bed Pediatric CVICU
• High acuity patient population ages 0-18 with congenital heart conditions, pre- and post-transplant, ventricular assistive devices, ECMO, and other advanced therapies
• Variable 12-hour rotating shifts with shift times of 0645–1845 or 1845–0645
• Weekend rotation includes 3-4 weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) within 6 weeks
• Floating to PICU, NICU, or General Pediatrics as needed
• No on-call or call-back responsibility
• Unit uses Epic EMR (experience required), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, and Phillips monitors
• Centralized and bedside monitoring
• Traveler’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
• Direct care for high acuity pediatric cardiac patients including those with complex congenital heart conditions and transplant cases
• Team includes 24/7 intensivist, cardiologist, respiratory therapist, resource nurse, charge nurse, health care tech, and unit secretary
• No CNA; one health care tech per day for support duties
• Department culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, and accountability

• Holiday coverage required for every other major holiday per unit rotation
• Schedule is managed in 6-week cycles with manager approval required for time off
• 2 days departmental orientation plus NEO provided

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license in hand
• Minimum 2 years recent Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a similar acuity facility
• Current certifications: BLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• Experience with fresh open heart post-op, transplant, and advanced devices such as Aquadex, Impella, and ECMO required
• Epic charting experience required
• Ability and competency to float to PICU required (discussed during interview)
• At least one professional reference from a supervisor within the last year required
• Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB for consideration
• Returning candidates must have been separated from a perm position within the health system for at least one year
