Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a NC or compact license and strong cardiac ICU skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a high-acuity Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU within a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center
• Unit consists of 20 beds divided into two mirrored sides with a centralized nurses station
• Care for patients aged 0-18 with congenital heart differences, post-surgical care, pre and post-transplant, and advanced device management including ECMO, Impella, Aquadex, and ventricular assistive devices
• RN to patient ratios vary from 2:1, 1:1, to 1:2 based on acuity
• No CNA assigned to each patient; 1 health care tech per day supports unit needs
• Uses Epic EMR; experience is required
• Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Variable/rotating shifts with options for days (0645–1845) or nights (1845–0645), with schedules set every 6 weeks
• Required to work 3-4 weekends (Friday through Sunday) within 6 weeks
• Holiday coverage required for every other major holiday
• Will float as needed to PICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Responsibilities include providing advanced critical care to pediatric cardiac patients in a collaborative, high-acuity ICU environment
• Interdisciplinary support available 24/7 including resource nurse, charge nurse, respiratory therapist, cardiologist, and intensivist
• Orientation includes hospital onboarding and 2 days of departmental training
• Scrub color is navy

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a comparable facility with similar acuity
• Experience caring for fresh open heart post-op patients and utilizing advanced cardiac support devices such as ECMO, Impella, and Aquadex
• Epic EMR experience required
• Ability and competency to float to PICU required
• One recent professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the past year, required for consideration
• Must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after previous perm employment
• Travelers’ permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
