Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in New York requiring an active NY RN license and strong cardiac monitoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes CHF patients, acute MI cases, post-device care (pacemakers), and patients with arrhythmias
• Assignment involves care for 26-bed unit with a typical patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7
• Rotating day and night shifts (4x12 hours), including every other weekend
• Must be available to work some holidays
• Floating to other units is required
• Uses Epic EMR for charting and documentation
• Responsible for cardiac monitoring, rapid response and code participation, and managing telemetry patients
• Practice isolation precautions and standard infection control protocols
• Required to wear navy and white scrubs in any combination
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required at the time of application
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Epic EMR experience required
• Strong cardiac monitoring skills, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Peripheral IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required
• Experience with non-invasive respiratory management
