Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Dept position at a major trauma center, requiring a CT or compact RN license and trauma center experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of a short-term acute care Level I Trauma Center
• Night shifts (3x12 hours), 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
• Average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6 for both day and night shifts
• Assignment is at one campus with the possibility of rotating to other campuses as needed
• Cross-training and floating within scope to other units may be required
• Travelers will not be assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
• Use of Epic EMR system
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Up to 7 days of requested time off can be auto-approved; more than 7 days requires facility approval
• Weekend shift call-outs will require make-up on another weekend shift within the next six-week scheduling period
• Must participate in emergency response activities as needed
• Returning permanent staff must have a 2-year break before consideration as a traveler
• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
• Parking is available at a cost

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license (can be pending at time of consideration)
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience in a comparable hospital; 2 years preferred
• Trauma center experience at a large facility is required
• Certifications: TNCC, ACLS, and BLS
• One professional reference required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID-19 vaccine and booster required unless religious or medical exemption is approved
• Cannot be considered with prior disciplinary action on nursing license
