Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in a Level I Trauma Center requiring active CA RN licensure and Cerner charting experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital with a Level I Trauma Center
• Cares for adult and pediatric populations including trauma, sepsis, stroke, homeless, and high-volume psych cases
• Assignment involves exposure to fast track/rapid care, ED-ICU, holding areas, and specialized pods for MS Tele Psych
• Shifts are day (3x12 hours), 11:00 to 23:00
• Patient assignments may include hallway patients and MS Tele
• Travelers are not assigned to intake, triage, resuscitation room, or pediatrics
• Cerner is the EMR used and experience is required
• No blocked or self-scheduling available
• Responsibilities include rapid care assessment, nurse protocols, IV initiation and maintenance, and care of patients with PCA pumps (staff handle PCA pumps)
• Works in a Magnet-designated facility
• Expected to care for a broad acuity spectrum, including admissions with a 30% rate
• Rotating assignments through all pods except resuscitation, triage, and peds
• First time travelers are accepted if they meet experience requirements
• No RTO (requested time off) allowed in the first two weeks of the assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Must submit all time off requests up front

Requirements

• Active, valid CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of recent ER experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
• Will consider first-time travelers with 2 or more years of ER experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• CPI or MAB certification preferred
• BSN degree preferred
• Previous experience with Cerner EMR required
• Must pass a EKG exam within three attempts
• Minimum one professional supervisory reference from the past year on the unit
• Must not have been employed at the facility within the past year to be eligible
