Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Float Pool Telemetry position with inpatient surgical experience and BLS/ACLS certification required.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Float Pool covering Surgical, Medical, Telemetry, Observation, and IMC units in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes adults with cardiac, respiratory, post-surgical, and general medical diagnoses
- Expected to care for patients with CHF, COPD, stroke, MI, post-op, and complex medical needs
- RN-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 on days, 1:5-6 on nights, Intermediate Care 1:3
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
- Rotation every other weekend including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Possible call requirements if census drops
- Floating to multiple units required
- Uses Cerner EMR, Pyxis, and GE Monitors
- Primary responsibilities include telemetry and post-surgical care for adults with a range of medical and surgical needs
- Charge RN support available, with floating coverage for days and assignment coverage on weekends and nights
- CNAs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists provide additional support 24/7
- Initial orientation includes regulatory and equipment review plus one shift on a clinical unit
- Professional scrubs of any color are acceptable but will not be provided
- Flu vaccination required for start dates after 9/30/2024; medical exemptions only, subject to pre-approval
- Free parking is available on site
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
Requirements
- Active ME or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience with at least 1 year in Telemetry
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Inpatient surgical experience required
- Cardiac drip management (Heparin, Diltiazem), cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, chest tube and trach care, and central/PICC line care required
- Previous employment in any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent role is not allowed
- Must reside at least 100 miles south or southwest of 489 State St, Bangor, ME to be eligible
