Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med-Surg RN with a NM or compact license for a fast-paced hospital setting, requiring prior travel assignment experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the medical-surgical department of a hospital environment
• Night shift position with 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Patient population includes adults requiring med-surg level care
• EPIC EMR system is used and on-site training is provided
• Floating to other departments or locations within 20 miles is required
• Responsible for direct nursing care, care coordination, and clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
• Ensures safe, effective, and patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Completes documentation and patient education per unit standards
• Must participate in unit-specific competency testing and education
• Passing basic cardiac arrhythmia testing during orientation is required for ED, ICU, and PCU RNs
• First-time travelers for this assignment are not accepted

Requirements

• Active New Mexico or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification from AHA, American Health and Safety, or ARC required
• Minimum of two years of current med-surg experience required
• At least one prior 13-week travel assignment completed
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing is required
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; locals not accepted
• Former perm staff must wait one year before being reconsidered as a traveler
