Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN with a NM or compact license and recent telemetry experience for a night shift assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a progressive care unit (PCU) within a hospital setting
• Unit consists of 18 or more beds with a telemetry patient population
• Twelve-hour night shifts, three days per week
• Floating to departments and facilities within a 20-mile radius is required
• Epic EMR experience is preferred but not required
• Direct patient care responsibilities including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation
• Collaborate with patient, family, and healthcare team to coordinate care
• Administer medications and treatments per protocols and physician orders
• Supervise LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel
• Must complete orientation and BCA testing on the first day
• Termination occurs if BCA test is failed twice
• All required certifications and licensure must be current and provided prior to consideration

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross required
• Minimum of two years of current experience in an 18+ bed telemetry or progressive care unit
• Must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• Candidates must pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test on site with one opportunity to retest
• NNIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• No local candidates permitted; must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Returning staff must wait one year from last employment to be eligible
