Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN with a NM or compact license and strong telemetry skills for a night shift assignment.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a progressive care/telemetry unit with more than 18 beds
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Floating to other departments or facilities within 20 miles required
• Patient care provided within fast-paced, team-oriented hospital environment
• Epic EMR experience is preferred
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation
• Coordinate care in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols and physician orders
• Identify and address patient and family education and discharge needs throughout care
• Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel as part of clinical team
• Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia test administered during orientation; failure to pass after two attempts results in contract termination
• Holiday coverage and weekend rotation may be required per assignment schedule

Requirements

• Active RN license in New Mexico or Compact state
• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• A minimum of 2 years of current telemetry/progressive care unit experience (18+ beds) required
• BLS and ACLS certification, completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Successful completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment required
• Must pass onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test; one retake allowed
• NIHSS certification is preferred
• Epic EMR proficiency preferred
• English proficiency required (speak, read, write)
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; no locals allowed
• Previous perm staff must wait one year before being reconsidered as a traveler
