Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level III Trauma Center with strong L&D skills and required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Birth Center of a hospital with Level III Trauma designation
• Care for patients in L&D, OB OR, OB PACU, Level II NICU, and Mother/Baby units
• Patient population includes high and low-risk labor, antepartum, postpartum, and perinatal addiction cases
• Handles approximately 175–200 deliveries per month
• Patient ratios follow AWHONN/NANN guidelines: 1:1 for active labor and 1:2 for non-active labor
• Schedule is 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend rotation
• Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday
• Travelers may float between L&D and Mother/Baby units based on competency
• Uses Epic Stork and GE Centricity EMRs, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Provide comprehensive care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum phases, including medication management and monitoring for substance abuse cases
• Support from NICU, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, OB group, laborists, and midwives available 24/7
• Basic breastfeeding support and education for new mothers required
• No CNAs on the unit; phlebotomy is available
• Traveler orientation includes two shifts on the unit and annual competency requirements
• Must wear facility-provided scrubs

• Time off requests must be manager approved

Requirements

• Valid WA or compact RN license
• Minimum 1 year of recent L&D experience required
• Current BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN or Relias)
• Experience with cervical exams, antepartum and labor care, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IVs, and Pitocin administration
• Postpartum and couplet care experience required
• Experience with HUGS Security system and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Comfortable with patient ratios as outlined and able to work with a variety of patient diagnoses
