Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position in a Level 1 Trauma Center with mandatory float requirements and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Operating Room of a Level 1 Trauma Center
• Night shifts, 5x8 hours from 8:30pm to 7am
• Required to work every other weekend, totaling two weekends per month
• Mandatory floating to any Cook facility within 50 miles as needed
• One 12-hour weekend call shift per month, either 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am
• No block scheduling or special scheduling requests are allowed
• Patients include trauma, ortho, vascular, urology, and general surgery cases
• Uses Cerner EMR system
• Scrub color is navy blue and is provided
• RTO requests limited to 5 days per contract with no more than 2 consecutive days and none on weekends or around holidays
• No RTO approved for holidays or the days immediately before and after a holiday
• Strict compliance with lab work completion within 72 hours of offer acceptance is mandatory
• Floating may involve being assigned outside of the primary competency area following a team-based model
• Travelers must be willing to float on short notice
• Orientation and team support provided on-site

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration; no pending licenses accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• At least 2 years of recent acute care OR experience required
• Level 1 Trauma Center OR experience required
• Strong scrub and circulate skills required
• Experience in ortho, ortho trauma, vascular, urology, and general surgery required
• Experience in neurosurgery, open heart/thoracic, ophthalmology, ENT, bariatric, or gynecology is preferred
• Must live within 75 miles of the facility
• Proof of COVID vaccine required
