Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring at least 2 years of recent med/surg experience and an active ND or compact license.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting covering a Med/Surg float pool
• Care for a variety of surgical and medical patients including total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, CHF, CVA, SOB, and diabetes
• Patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights with 61 combined beds
• Uses Epic EMR
• 12-hour day shifts available, working 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday are required
• Float is required, with travelers being first to float
• CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow RT equipment used on the unit
• Monitor tech reads telemetry with RN confirmation
• Provide nursing care for medical and surgical patients in a high-acuity environment
• Unit is supported by nurse aides at a 1:15 ratio
• Travelers will complete a unit-specific float checklist during orientation
• Any scrub color is permitted for this assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active ND or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent med/surg experience required
• Experience matching current med/surg skill set
• Two references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years
• Copy of current driver’s license required
• Must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the past year
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
