Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele travel position requiring a VA or compact license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital
• Unit features 30 beds and cares for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Patient ratios typically 1:6, with phlebotomy support, 1-2 CNAs per shift, and sitters as needed
• Mixed patient population including those requiring pre/post hemodialysis care and CAPD
• Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, Hercules beds, BiPAP, CPAP, trach management, chest tubes, and Kangaroo tube feed pumps
• Requires ability to float to other Med/Surg Tele units
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and major holiday required
• Pass/fail EKG (dysrhythmia) testing required on first day, with two attempts allowed
• Involves caring for mixed Med/Surg Telemetry patient populations, including pre/post hemodialysis and CAPD
• Team includes phlebotomy and CNA support, with collaboration across interdisciplinary care teams
• Must work every other weekend and cover major holidays as scheduled
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Compliance with dress code and testing requirements is mandatory

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience required
• One year of travel nurse experience required
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility and provide proof of address for consideration
• Dysrhythmia/EKG exam required for role
• CAPD experience preferred
