Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology position with telemetry experience and a strong oncology background.
Responsibilities
- Position is on an adult medical oncology unit specializing in bone marrow transplant, CAR-T therapy, and the care of hematologic and solid tumor malignancies
- Setting is a large hospital unit with 500+ bed facility experience required
- Patients are adults requiring acute medical oncology and telemetry care
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Requires working every other weekend
- Holiday coverage as needed by the unit
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Alaris pumps and Epic EMR; experience preferred
- Responsibilities include caring for adult oncology patients, including those undergoing bone marrow transplant and CAR-T therapy
- Unit provides care for both hematologic and solid tumor malignancies
- Orientation is provided on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month
- Locals are accepted at the same rate, except for Howard County General where a 60-mile radius rule applies
- First day orientation offered on set dates
Requirements
- Active MD or compact RN license
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of current nursing experience in a comparable facility size
- Previous oncology and telemetry experience required
- Preferred experience as a traveler (1-2 travel assignments)
- Chemo certification preferred but not required, as chemo is administered on the unit
- Epic and Alaris pump experience preferred
