Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring recent trauma center experience and flexible night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of a large Level I Trauma Center
• Night shifts with a schedule of 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:00
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:6 for both days and nights
• Every other weekend is required
• Assignments are for one campus with the possibility of rotation to other campuses
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected
• Epic EMR system is used
• Travelers are not assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
• Participation in emergency response activities such as natural disasters may be required
• Block scheduling requests may be accommodated
• Facility can auto-approve up to 7 days of requested time off; more than 7 days requires approval
• Local candidates are not eligible unless applying as a Nuclear Med Tech or CT Tech
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Scrubs or dress code details are not specified

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license or ability to obtain prior to start
• Current certifications in TNCC, ACLS, and BLS required
• At least 1.5 years of recent experience in a similar hospital setting, with 2+ years preferred
• Recent trauma center experience at a large facility is required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with medical or religious exemptions considered
• Must not have prior nursing license disciplinary actions
• Returning perm staff must have a 2-year separation to be eligible as a traveler
