Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position in New York requiring a current NY RN license and prior traveler experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital float pool setting covering Med/Surg, Telemetry, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and acute inpatient rehab units
• Night shifts from 7p-7a, 12 hours per shift, three shifts per week
• Assignment duration is 13 weeks
• Patient population includes post-op, plastics, septic, COPD, CHF, and general medical-surgical cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6
• Floats between multiple units as needed
• Uses Meditech EMR; experience required
• Weekend, holiday, and call coverage is required
• No on-call responsibilities outside required rotation
• Not open to candidates within a 75-mile radius
• Administer heparin drips, magnesium, and potassium riders as required
• May be required to assume charge nurse duties
• Must be able to recognize and address safety issues and use lifting equipment appropriately
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and prioritization skills are essential
• Teamwork and excellent communication skills are required for success in this role
• Must be able to perform in high-stress situations
• Holiday coverage is mandatory as assigned

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
• PCU experience highly preferred
• Must have successfully completed at least one prior traveler assignment
• Meditech EMR experience required
• Minimum of two references from a Charge RN, Supervisor, or Manager within the past year in the relevant specialty
• First-time travelers will not be considered
