Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab/EP position at a Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Los Angeles, requiring prior Cath Lab experience, a CA RN license in hand, and availability for on-call shifts.

Responsibilities

• Work setting is a 377-bed Magnet-designated acute care hospital
• Position is in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, with exposure to EP Lab procedures
• Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• On-call is required approximately 5–6 shifts per 2-week pay period, with a 30-minute response time
• On-call schedule rotates every other weekend from Friday at 5:30 PM through Monday at 7:00 AM, plus approximately one weekday per week
• Weekend requirement is every other weekend (on-call only)
• No floating between like units within the facility
• Charting is done in Epic (required)
• Procedures performed include diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, TAVR, TEE, Watchman, ASD closures, PCI, IABP, Impella insertion, pacemaker/defibrillator lead extraction, rotablator atherectomy, valvuloplasty, ventricular assist device insertion, and a full range of EP procedures including cardiac ablation, mapping, and LAA closure
• Preferred skills include EP Lab, Interventional Radiology, Special Procedures, scrub procedures, TAVR, TEE, Watchman, and EP procedures such as cardiac ablation, mapping, LAA closure, and arrhythmia induction
• Charge nurse experience is preferred
• Teaching hospital experience is preferred
• All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
• Must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; post-offer RTO requests may be denied
• Scrubs may be any color
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local and may be eligible at a local rate
• Block scheduling is available at manager's discretion

Requirements

• Active CA RN license currently in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
• Current ACLS certification required
• LA City Fire Card obtained within the last 30 days required
• Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab experience required
• Travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers will not be considered)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be able to respond on-site within 30 minutes when on call
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required
• No open license or background hits — any hits must be disclosed upfront
• Must disclose any prior employment history with the facility's health system
