Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med Specialty Step Down position requiring at least one year of RN experience and an active OK or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Med Specialty Step Down unit
• Patient population includes individuals with a variety of health problems ranging from simple to complex
• Night shift schedule
• 36 hours per week, working three 12-hour shifts
• Responsibilities include assessing and monitoring assigned patients, documenting responses to nursing interventions, administering medications, and managing IV infusions and blood products
• Assists physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Collaborates with patients and families on care planning and discharge education
• Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
• Travelers who have previously worked at this facility may only extend once, for a total of 26 weeks; a 6-month separation period is required before being eligible for a subsequent contract

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; all certifications must be AHA-issued
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Proficiency in organizing, planning, and evaluating nursing care
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
• Basic computer skills required
