Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Magnet-designated acute care hospital, requiring a valid IL RN license in hand and a minimum of 2 years of ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Night shift position, 18:45–07:15 (3x12-hour shifts)
• Emergency Department setting within a 222-bed Magnet-designated acute care hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• May float between two campus locations (Belleville and East/Shiloh) as well as inpatient floors as needed
• Charting system: Epic
• Navy scrubs required
• No parking costs
• Handles a high-acuity patient population including trauma, pediatric, cardiac arrest, stroke, STEMI, sexual assault, and behavioral health patients awaiting placement
• Performs and assists with advanced procedures including central line and arterial line insertion, chest tube placement, intubation, and post-cardiac arrest hypothermia protocols
• Participates in code blue, code stroke, and code STEMI response teams
• Permanent employees of BJC facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break is required
• RTO is limited to 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Pre-assignment modules must be completed through WorkRamp prior to the start date
• Fit testing is required; candidates must have facial hair compatible with proper mask fit testing or be prepared to shave

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• Preferred certifications: CPI, TNCC
• RQI cards are not accepted in lieu of required certifications
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV therapy/phlebotomy, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
• Triage experience required
• Valid SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
