Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cath Lab / EP Technologist (RCIS or ARRT-R) with a minimum of 2–3 years of cardiac cath lab experience for a 4x10 day shift contract at an academic medical center in Maryland.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 4-room diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab with an average daily volume of 15 cases
- Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including CAD, MI, post-cardiac arrest, cardiogenic shock, heart failure, ASD, PFO, VSD, pericardial effusion/tamponade, aortic stenosis, mitral and tricuspid regurgitation, and pre/post-transplant cases
- Procedures include PCI, CTO, PFO/ASD closure, coronary atherectomy, pericardiocentesis, aortic valvuloplasty, septostomy, TAVR, Mitraclip, Triclip, IABP placement, Impella placement, ECMO placement, and coronary thrombectomy
- Specialized equipment includes Impella console, IABP console, Shockwave, Boston Scientific IVUS/FFR/DFR, Acist, MedRad, Rotablader, Penumbra, and various coronary wires, stents, and balloons
- 4x10 day shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- One on-call day per week and one on-call weekend per month required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Travelers are first to float within their experience scope per facility policy
- Candidate's permanent residence must be 50+ miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former travelers who have worked at the UMMS health system must have been away for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
- Former UMMS staff must have been separated from the system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- RTO requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration and cannot be changed or added after an offer is made
- CPI certification (Calm Every Storm online version) may be required as part of compliance
- BLS and ACLS must be AHA-certified
- At least 3 years of cath lab experience preferred overall
Requirements
- RCIS or ARRT-R (RT(R)) required; candidates with RCIS must have a minimum of 2 years of cath lab experience, while candidates with only ARRT-R must have a minimum of 3 years
- Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) required
- Active MD or Compact license required if applicable
- Community hospital experience required; academic teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Proficiency in diagnostic and interventional cath lab procedures including TAVR, ECMO, IABP, Impella, PCI, PTCA, ASD/PFO closures, rotablader atherectomy, Watchman, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Experience scrubbing and maintaining sterile field, circulating, EKG lead placement, and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- First-time travelers will not be considered; travel experience is required
- 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN acceptable)
