Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 2 years of large ED experience and prior completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment.

Responsibilities

• 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
• Hospital-based Emergency Department setting
• Fast-paced, high-volume ED environment
• Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
• Epic EMR used on-site; prior experience preferred but not required, training available
• Candidates must pass an on-site Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test administered on the first day of orientation; one retest is permitted, but a second failure will result in contract cancellation
• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation
• Clinically supervises LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
• Collaborates with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team to coordinate care
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent staff of this health system must wait one year before being considered as a traveler

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of current experience in a large Emergency Department
• At least one completed 13-week travel assignment required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS — BLS, ACLS, and PALS must be obtained through the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• ADN or ASN degree required
• Must be a team player, flexible, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• Must successfully pass an on-site Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test prior to starting the assignment
