Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 18 months of experience, telemetry skills, and night shift availability with every other weekend commitment.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes primarily medical cases such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, COVID-19, chest pain, and small bowel obstruction, with a smaller surgical caseload including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, colectomy, mastectomy, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Telemetry monitoring experience required
• IV start skills required
• Cerner EMR — experience required
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:00–06:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Indiana-licensed RNs are not eligible for this Med/Surg Tele position per facility policy (IN RN travelers are only permitted in Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN roles)
• Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO of 5 days or fewer may be approved

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current ACLS and BLS required — AHA and RQI formats accepted
• Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• IV start proficiency required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required
