Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level 1 trauma center with a high-volume surgical environment requiring robotics experience and on-call availability.
Responsibilities
- Large acute care hospital OR with 25 operating suites averaging 75–100 cases per day
- Level 1 trauma center setting
- General surgical cases including GYN, urology, laparoscopic, some neuro/ortho, and ENT procedures
- Robotics experience (DaVinci) preferred; peds (level 2) and ophthalmology experience are a plus
- 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Primarily day shifts with 8-hour shifts; 10-hour shifts possible as needed
- PM shift rotation shared with all staff
- On-call required 1–2 days per week and every 3–4 weekends; late stays are considered shift extensions, not callback
- Rare floating to alternate campuses may be required
- EMR: Epic (Accudose also utilized)
- Responsibilities include circulating duties: sterile site prepping, catheter insertion, opening sterile supplies, patient positioning, electronic documentation, and OR equipment setup
- Equipment used includes cautery, lasers, laparoscopic and arthroscopy equipment, and Accudose
- Facility-issued scrubs (ceil blue) are provided
- All clinicians are required to badge in and out at the facility
- Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
- Candidates with a permanent address between 60–80 miles from the facility may be eligible but qualify for a reduced local travel rate
- Previous employment at any Sanford Health location must be disclosed; candidates who have previously worked for Sanford Health must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date
- An interview with the unit manager is required prior to an offer being extended
Requirements
- Active ND or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR RN experience
- Large hospital experience required (250+ beds with Level 1 trauma status)
- Experience in a facility with 15 or more OR suites required; outpatient center experience is not sufficient
- Strong general surgical and ENT experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Two professional references required: one supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one peer or supervisor reference from the same specialty within the last 3 years
- Skills checklist and copies of active certifications required for consideration
- Active license required at time of consideration; no pending certifications accepted
