Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level IIIb NICU position at a children's hospital in Orange County, CA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and vent management skills.

Responsibilities

• Level IIIb NICU in a small children's hospital located within a community-based adult trauma hospital setting, with no residents or fellows on staff
• Neonatologists are on-site 24/7
• Patient population includes premature infants, ELBW, late pre-terms, respiratory distress, multiples, hypoglycemics, sepsis, NAS, and occasional surgical cases
• Unit census ranges from 8 to 16 patients, with acuity varying significantly and unpredictably
• Ventilator management required approximately 2–3 times per week
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required to PICU, Pediatrics, and Eating Disorder unit; a 6-hour orientation to float units is provided
• Self-scheduling
• Epic EMR used
• Unit specializes in developmental care and family-centered care
• Candidates with prior travel assignments in addition to a solid NICU base are preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided a good character fit
• Pre-approved time off is at the discretion of the manager
• Contract extensions beyond 13 weeks may be available

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Previous Pediatrics and/or PICU float experience required
• Ventilator experience required
• Ability to manage varying diagnoses and acuity levels
