Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU Float position at a Magnet-designated acute care hospital in California, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active CA RN license.

Responsibilities

  • ICU Float position at a 426-bed Magnet-designated acute care hospital
  • High-acuity ICU patient population with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Required to float between the ICU and Day Surgery Unit (DSU) as needed
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
  • Every other weekend required; may exceed to meet unit needs
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Charting via Epic
  • Free parking available on site
  • First-time travelers are considered only with 3 or more years of ICU experience
  • Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within California; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
  • Scheduling requests related to outside employment will not be accommodated
  • Travel pairs will not be considered for this position
  • RTO must be submitted at the time of profile submission; excessive RTO requests may hinder the process
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate
  • Royal blue scrubs required for RNs

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required (pending license not accepted)
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; 3 years highly preferred
  • ICU experience within the last year is required
  • High-acuity ICU experience highly preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • At least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
  • SSN and date of birth required for consideration
