Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Manager for a dual Cath Lab/ICU leadership role requiring at least 1 year of management experience and active KS or Compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities
- Acute care hospital setting overseeing both the Cardiac Cath Lab and ICU departments
- Cath Lab unit consists of 1 procedure room and 3 pre/post bays; ICU has 8 beds
- Cath Lab patient population includes Cardiac, Vascular, EP, IR, and Non-Invasive Cardiology cases; ICU patients present with Cardiac/Respiratory conditions including Sepsis, DKA, NSTEMI, STEMI, COPD exacerbation, and CKD
- Cath Lab staffing ratio is 3–4 per case (RN/Tech); ICU ratio is 1:2, with flexibility up to 1:3 depending on acuity
- Pre/Post area has 3 bays requiring 2 ACLS-certified RNs
- Titration of vasoactive drips required; Cath Lab drips include Heparin, IIbIIIa inhibitors, and blood products; ICU drips include Levophed, Vasopressin, Epi, Neo, Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone, Versed, Propofol, Fentanyl, Nimbex, and Insulin
- Respiratory equipment includes oxygen and end-tidal CO2 in the Cath Lab; vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen in the ICU
- Telemetry monitoring is performed by all staff intraprocedurally, in pre/post, and in the Stress Lab; ICU nurses monitor their own patients and confirm strips every 4 hours
- EMR: Epic
- 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 0800–1600 for elective cases
- 24/7 call required, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays (on-call basis)
- Self-scheduling is available
- All staff except the charge nurse are required to float to other departments
- Oversees daily operations, staffing, and nursing competency development across both the Cath Lab and ICU departments
- Responsibilities include pre/post procedure care, bedside procedure support, moderate sedation management, and fostering a positive unit culture
- Charge nurse is preferred not to take a patient assignment
- Hospital-laundered scrubs provided
- Orientation is approximately 8 hours; clinicians must be on-site in state for the full orientation week, even if initial modules are conducted remotely
- Candidates who do not hold all listed certifications but meet the majority of requirements may still be considered at the CNO's discretion
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Requirements
- Active KS or Compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, RCIS (via CCI), and TNCC; CRRT competency also required — pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Minimum 1 year of nursing management experience required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical leadership experience required
- Critical care and/or telemetry experience required
- Experience with moderate sedation and bedside procedural support required
- Fluoroscopy license for technical staff oversight preferred
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
