Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Direct Observation Unit (Telemetry) night shift position requiring Epic EMR proficiency and Level 1 Trauma experience.

Responsibilities

Medical Observation unit (T6) in a hospital setting
Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
36 hours per week, three 12-hour shifts per day
Epic EMR used; experience required
Performs comprehensive patient assessments upon admission and develops, implements, and continuously updates individualized care plans
Maintains accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation to support the broader healthcare team
Responsible for IV site assessment every 4 hours and initiating new IVs per facility policy
Documentation standards are evaluated through quarterly chart audits
Expected to attend the majority of staff meetings (5 out of 6 per year)
Identifies and responds appropriately to changes in patient status
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
RTO is limited to no more than 7 days for the duration of the 13-week contract
Travelers who have been on continuous assignment at this health system for 1 year must take a 6-month break before returning to any location within the system

Requirements

Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience
Level 1 Trauma experience required
Epic EMR experience required
Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend fluent English
Basic computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheet, email, web browser)
