Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg travel assignment at a Level 1 trauma facility, requiring at least 1 year of large hospital experience and Epic proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • 32-bed inpatient Medical Specialty Unit (7CD) in an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital with 250+ beds
  • Adult medical/surgical patient population, including patients experiencing behavioral disturbances
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
  • 12-hour shifts on a rotating day/night schedule; specific rotation depends on unit needs and may vary cycle to cycle
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Floating required to any Med/Surg unit across all three Fargo campuses as needed
  • Equipment includes telemetry, Philips monitors, bladder scanner, AcuVein, and Omnicell
  • Epic EMR used; experience required
  • All rooms are private with a bathroom and mobility aids for safe patient handling
  • Collaborative, inter-professional care environment working alongside physicians and other clinical colleagues
  • Candidates must badge in and out at the facility
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
  • Candidates living between 60 and 80 miles of the facility may be considered but are subject to a reduced travel pay rate
  • Candidates with previous employment at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date
  • Self-scheduling is available, though schedule adjustments may occur to balance unit needs; time off not on the contract may require finding a shift trade
  • Travel experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active ND or Compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required (AHA only; no pending certifications accepted)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience in a large hospital setting (250+ beds)
  • Level 1 trauma center experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Ability to float to Med/Surg units across multiple campuses
  • Two professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years in the same specialty
  • Resume must have no employment gaps exceeding 30 days
  • Active certifications required at time of consideration (no pending certifications)
