Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in an ortho/spine/med-surg setting, requiring at least 1 year of MS/Tele experience and a TN or Compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit with an ortho, spine, and general med/surg patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:7
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:30–07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating is required
• Epic EMR (preferred experience)
• 13-week contract
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• General orientation begins on Sundays with online computer-based learning (CBLs); orientation modules average 4–5 hours
• Nurses are expected to actively support nursing students and contribute to clinical education alongside their regular patient care responsibilities
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration

Requirements

• Active TN or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele and Med/Surg RN experience required
• Current AHA BLS required; AHA ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Skills required include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, IV therapy, blood product administration, PICC/central line management, wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE, and respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, chest tubes)
• Orthopedic experience including total joint replacement and ortho trauma preferred
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and medication management (Heparin, Insulin, PCA) preferred
• Two supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Candidates must be able to commit to a drug test within 12–14 calendar days prior to start and be available for a repeat test if needed
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines
