Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab/EP position requiring at least 3 years of experience, travel experience, and a valid CA RN license, with on-call responsibilities and a 4x10 day shift schedule.
Responsibilities
- Hospital-based Cath Lab setting serving a patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
- 4x10 day shift schedule, 0700–1700
- Patient diagnoses include STEMI, stroke, and trauma
- On-call required: approximately 12 call shifts per six-week schedule, with weekend call every third weekend
- EMR: Epic experience required
- Procedures performed include diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, PCI, TAVR, IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, left and right heart catheterization, pacemaker/defibrillator lead extraction, TEE, Watchman procedure, and more
- Interventional Radiology procedures include TIPS, ERCP, chemoembolization, liver biopsy, gastrostomy tube placement, and percutaneous hepatic angiography
- Neurological procedures include cerebral and carotid angiography, neurologic thrombolysis, vertebroplasty, and embolization
- Vascular procedures include angioplasty, carotid stenting, endovascular interventions, stent graft placement, and central venous access/port placement
- Equipment experience required: intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), Impella, rapid infusion systems, and ICP monitoring
- Skills include circulating, scrubbing, conscious sedation, pulmonary artery line monitoring, telemetry, triage, and ventilator management
- High cost of living area — candidates are encouraged to research living expenses prior to applying
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Hybrid OR and pre/post procedure experience preferred
- Responsibilities include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, monitoring procedural sedation, sheath removal/monitoring, vascular closure systems, cardioversion, hypothermia protocol, and malignant hyperthermia protocol
- Medication administration includes antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, thrombolytics, reversal agents, and procedural sedation
- All requested time off must be submitted at the time of initial consideration for the full length of the contract
Requirements
- Active CA RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS; NIHSS preferred
- Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced/Intermediate, CCRN, CPI, PALS
- Minimum 3 years of Cath Lab RN experience required
- Interventional Radiology (IR) experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Proficiency with IABP, Impella, rapid infusion, and ICP monitoring equipment required
- COVID vaccination required
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
