Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Med-Surg position requiring at least 3 years of experience and stepdown-specific skills, with a consistent Friday-Saturday-Sunday schedule.

Details

• Acute care setting in a Stepdown/Med-Surg unit with 20 beds
• Patient population includes respiratory issues, weakness, UTI, AKI, and chest pain
• Stepdown ratio is 1:3; Med-Surg floor ratio is 1:5-6, with 2 nursing aides per shift
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including Heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
• Telemetry is present on the unit and monitored remotely
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Charting is performed in Epic
• 12-hour day shifts, scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (36 hours/week)
• Every 4-week schedule includes 3 weekend shifts
• Holiday rotation required (day or evening)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• No floating requirement
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown experience required
• Epic EMR experience
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• A copy of a valid, unexpired driver's license is required for consideration
• Any licensing disciplinary actions must be disclosed upfront

Additional Information

• Royal blue scrubs required
• Unit-specific orientation is provided
• Two supervisor/peer references required — at least one supervisor reference, and if the candidate worked a permanent position in the last 12 months, one reference must be from that facility
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before returning; travelers who have worked within WVU Medicine for a cumulative total of one year must also take a 2-year break before reapplying
• Candidates may not be submitted to more than one WVU facility simultaneously
