Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level 1 Trauma Center position requiring strong scrub and circulate skills and a minimum of 2 years of recent acute care OR experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a hospital Operating Room at a Level 1 Trauma Center
• Day shift schedule: 5x8s, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• Every other weekend (2 weekends per month) required
• Call requirement: one 12-hour shift per month on a Saturday or Sunday (7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM); no weekday call
• This is a mandatory float facility — all clinicians are required to float at the facility's discretion, including to other Cook County facilities within 50 miles
• Charting is performed in Cerner
• Scrubs are provided; any color is acceptable
• Primary surgical specialties include Orthopedics, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery
• Preferred surgical experience includes Neurosurgery (cranial and spine), Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, and Gynecology
• RTO is capped at 5 days for the contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time
• RTO on weekends will not be approved
• No RTO on holidays or the day before or after a holiday
• Floating may occur to other units, potentially outside of primary competency; a team-based model is used when floated outside primary area
• Clinicians may receive float notification as little as 2 hours before their shift
• Local candidates are accepted and preferred; candidates must live within 75 miles of the facility
• No special scheduling requests or block scheduling will be approved

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; pending licensure is not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in the OR
• Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
• Strong scrub and circulate skills required
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility
• COVID vaccination (initial series) required; booster is not required
