Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week night shift contract on a 40-bed Neuro unit in Austin, TX, requiring a TX or compact RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.
Responsibilities
- 40-bed Neurology unit (4 West) in a hospital setting in Austin, TX
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Patient ratios are 5–6:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Team structure includes a charge nurse, 7–8 RNs, and 4 PCTs per shift
- EMR: Meditech
- No on-call requirements
- 13-week contract
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Candidates must pass a Med/Surg Assessment, Pharmacology Assessment, and Med/Surg Skills evaluation
- The unit is described as having a great team culture

Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
