Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week night shift contract on a 40-bed Neuro unit in Austin, TX, requiring a TX or compact RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.

Responsibilities

• 40-bed Neurology unit (4 West) in a hospital setting in Austin, TX
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Patient ratios are 5–6:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Team structure includes a charge nurse, 7–8 RNs, and 4 PCTs per shift
• EMR: Meditech
• No on-call requirements
• 13-week contract
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Candidates must pass a Med/Surg Assessment, Pharmacology Assessment, and Med/Surg Skills evaluation
• The unit is described as having a great team culture

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
