Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a blended Medical-Surgical Peds/Adult Women unit at a Level II Trauma facility in Illinois, requiring PALS certification and night shift availability.
Details
- 20-bed blended unit serving both pediatric and adult female Med/Surg patients in an acute care setting
- Average census of approximately 11 patients, with higher volume during winter months due to RSV season
- Typical patient mix includes 8–10 pediatric patients and 4–6 adult female patients, shifting toward more adult female patients during milder RSV seasons
- RN-to-patient ratio goal is no more than 5 patients, dependent on census and available staff
- Core unit staffing consists of 3 RNs per shift; a centralized staffing office manages census and acuity across the hospital
- Travel RNs are first to float when census is low — comfort with adult Med/Surg patients is essential
- 12-hour night shifts
- Charting system is Allscripts (with an Epic conversion underway); medication system is Acudose
- Epic experience within the past year is required
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Med/Surg experience required; comfort with both pediatric and adult patient populations necessary
- Epic EMR experience within the past year required
- COVID vaccination required
- BSN not required
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to a blended population of pediatric and adult female Med/Surg patients
- No RTO (requested time off) will be approved from 3/21 through 4/18, coinciding with the facility's Epic system conversion
- ACLS is not required for this position
