Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a Mammography Technologist with 1+ year of experience and ARRT (R)(M) certification for a 12-week contract in a hospital mammography department.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based mammography department
• Performs screening and diagnostic mammography as well as advanced procedures including stereotactic biopsies, clip placements, and drainages
• 4x10-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, with 2 Saturdays required during the contract
• Charts using Epic EMR
• Ensures proper patient identification and order verification, and prepares patients for mammography exams
• Operates mammographic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images, applying appropriate techniques and radiation protection in compliance with ALARA standards
• Educates patients on breast self-examination by answering questions and providing written materials
• Maintains accurate documentation including time stamps, image storage, and records required by JCAHO and the Utah State Bureau of Radiation Control
• Works independently with minimal supervision, exercising judgment and initiative across a variety of procedures
• Candidates who are or have been permanent staff at this facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of mammography or imaging experience required
• ARRT (R)(M) certification required
• Current BLS (AHA) required; must not expire prior to start date
• Active UT state radiology license required (license required if applicable)
• Bachelor's degree in a health science program from an accredited institution required
• Must meet and maintain ARRT Advanced Mammography Certification and ACR FDA/MQSA requirements
• A personal radiation monitoring badge (dosimeter) is required for this assignment
• DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Physical demands include lifting, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, manual dexterity, and visual acuity
