Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring active IL licensure, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications, with a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital ICU setting with 12 beds and a max census of 11
• Medical ICU (MICU) patient population including CHF, COPD, sepsis, MI, DKA, COVID, and ventilated patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3; unit occasionally houses IMU patients
• RNs are required to titrate drips including paralytics, sedatives, Cardizem, amiodarone, and other common ICU drips
• Ventilators, CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen are used on the unit; respiratory therapy manages equipment
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation is preferred; a monitor tech monitors ICU and tele patients in-house
• EMR is Epic
• 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Block scheduling accommodated upon request
• Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for nights)
• Every other holiday required
• No call or standby requirement
• Travel nurses do not float to additional departments

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; must be active at time of consideration (pending license not accepted)
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS — all must be active at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
• BSN not required
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Charge nurse coverage 24/7 (charge nurses carry a patient assignment); Administrative House Supervisor on-site 24/7
• Hospitalist in-house 22 hours/day and on-call during the remaining gap (5 AM–7 AM); intensivist available by phone 24/7
• No nurse aides or patient care techs on unit; this is a primary nursing care unit
• Orientation consists of 3 days: Day 1 is online modules and general facility orientation; Days 2 and 3 are on-the-floor with a preceptor nurse
• Navy blue scrubs required; not provided by the facility
• Drug-free campus — a negative drug screen is required
• Two references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Local candidates are accepted; candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a local pay rate
