Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU travel assignment at an acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring active IL licensure and a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.

Details

• 12-bed Medical ICU (MICU) in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes CHF, COPD, sepsis, MI, DKA, COVID, and ventilated patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3; unit occasionally houses IMU patients
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including paralytics, sedatives, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and other common ICU vasoactive medications
• Respiratory therapy manages all RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow); RNs troubleshoot as needed
• Monitor tech is present in-house and covers ICU patients; cardiac rhythm interpretation is preferred
• Charge nurse is present 24/7 and carries a patient assignment; Administrative House Supervisor is on-site 24/7
• Hospitalist is in-house 22 hours/day (on-call 5am–7am); Intensivist is available by phone 24/7
• No nursing assistants or PCTs on unit — primary care nursing model
• 12-hour night shifts, 6:30pm–7:00am
• Block scheduling is accommodated upon request
• Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for nights)
• Every other holiday required
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Travel nurses are not required to float to other departments
• Epic EMR is used in this position
• 13-week contract, 36 hours per week

Requirements

• Active Illinois (IL) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS — all must be active; pending certifications are not accepted
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Negative drug screen required; facility is a drug-free campus

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of 3 days: Day 1 includes online modules and general facility orientation; Days 2 and 3 are on the floor with a precepting nurse
• Navy blue scrubs required; scrubs are not provided by the facility
• Local candidates are welcome to apply — candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate
• Covid vaccination is not required for this position
