Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PICU position at a Magnet-designated pediatric hospital in Madison, WI, requiring prior PICU and cardiac experience with Epic proficiency.

Responsibilities

• 21-bed PICU within a comprehensive, Magnet-designated pediatric medical and surgical center in Madison, WI
• Pediatric patient population with complex medical and surgical cases including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO
• Day and night shifts available, 12 hours each (7:00am–7:30pm or 7:00pm–7:30am)
• Schedule runs Monday through Friday with every other weekend required
• Epic EMR used; experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
• Travelers are the first to float and may be assigned to multiple units or locations based on staffing needs; if the primary department no longer has need, shifts will be reassigned to complete the contract
• Basic arrhythmia/telemetry monitoring experience required; telemetry test must be passed prior to start
• Provide family-centered, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill or injured children and their families as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team
• Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU on site
• Must pass a telemetry test prior to being cleared to start
• Parking permit required if parking on-site; bus, park & ride, and private parking options are also available

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license from permanent address state, currently in hand
• Current BLS certification through American Heart Association only
• Current PALS certification through American Heart Association
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years
• Prior PICU experience required
• CV ICU, cardiac step-down, or general cardiac experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Basic arrhythmia experience required
• BSN preferred
• Permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility
