Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CCU/CVICU position at a top-ranked heart and vascular teaching hospital in Washington, DC, requiring a DC RN license and strong critical care skills including ventilator management and cardiac drip titration.
Details
- Work in a 22-bed CCU/CVICU within a 748-bed short-term acute care teaching hospital ranked among the top 50 heart and vascular centers in the country
- Specialty focus on medical cardiology and advanced heart failure, including patients in cardiogenic shock, awaiting cardiac transplant, post-cardiac arrest, acute MI, and post-interventional cardiology procedures
- Cares for patients requiring life-supporting devices and medications
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Schedule is 3x12-hour rotating day and night shifts (7:00–19:30 / 19:00–07:30), rotating every 2–4 weeks; candidates with a preference for nights may rotate less frequently
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to other ICU or IMC units within the same level of acuity
- Charting system: Cerner
- Ceil blue scrubs required; scrubs are not provided
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required; pending DC license accepted provided proof of pending status is submitted and license is in hand prior to start date
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required clinical skills: 12-lead EKG acquisition, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, care of ventilated patients, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ventilator management, infection prevention, isolation precautions and PPE use, and phlebotomy
- Flexibility with rotating day and night shifts is essential
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provides critical care nursing to a complex cardiac patient population including those on life-supporting devices and advanced pharmacological support
- Device certifications are offered throughout the contract
- Orientation hours are flexible to meet the individual clinician's needs
- First-time travelers will be screened on a case-by-case basis
- Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility should contact their American Traveler recruiter regarding local rate eligibility
