Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience, prior travel experience, and the ability to manage high-acuity patients on a 12-hour night shift schedule.

Details

19-bed Labor & Delivery unit in a hospital setting
High-acuity patient population with 1-2:1 nurse-to-patient ratios
EMR: Epic
12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week
On-call required: 12 hours within every 6-week scheduling period
Floating is required; travelers are first to float, including to sister campuses located within 15-20 minutes of the primary facility
Scrub color: Galaxy Blue and/or White

Requirements

Active FL or compact RN license required
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course (completed and passed) required
AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring course and EFM certification preferred
Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
Prior travel nursing experience required
Accredited nursing degree required, or 5+ years of nursing experience in lieu of degree accreditation documentation
2 professional references required (at least one from within the past year)
Driver's license address must match the address on file with the Board of Nursing

Additional Information

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; this radius rule is strictly enforced
Nurses begin orientation on a Friday; remote orientation is completed first, followed by an in-person visit to the facility for badge/ID issuance — candidates must be in the area by that Friday
All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed prior to consideration, as it will not be approved after an offer is made
Block scheduling requests are not accepted
No first-time travelers; prior travel nursing experience is required
Candidates are expected to function as core staff and integrate into the unit culture — flexibility and a team-player attitude are highly valued at this facility

Pros

Ratio 4:1 at times 5:1, staff at nights really work as a team. The assignments are made baded on patient acuity. Self scheduling is also offered.

Cons

Patients are high acuity so your assignment can be really heavy at times. Be knowledgeable on different drips. This will make or break you. Especially when short staff having a 5 patient assignment.
