Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• Level IV NICU within a 152-bed children's hospital — the second highest-level NICU in Washington State
• NICU has 70 beds with a typical census of around 50 patients
• Patient population includes premature infants down to 22 weeks gestation, RDS, high-risk deliveries, feeders/growers, and NAS; preferred experience with surgical patients and HIE (Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy)
• Private rooms throughout the NICU; overflow Level II Nursery care for feeders/growers
• NICU is part of a pediatric hospital attached to an adult hospital with high-risk labor and delivery
• 12-hour night shifts (0700–1930 or 1900–0730), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required; occasional back-to-back weekends possible but rare
• Rare floating to the ER to serve as a sitter
• No on-call responsibilities
• Block scheduling is possible
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Active WA state RN license or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS and NRP
• Minimum 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience required
• Proficiency in respiratory support including vents, trachs, NCPAP, and related equipment
• Experience with g-tubes, NG/OG tubes, UAC/UVC management, and PICC lines required
• Skills in medication administration, care plan development, and discharge-to-home coordination required
• At least one supervisory reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will be considered, though travel experience is strongly preferred
• Provide complex neonatal nursing care including respiratory support, vascular line management, and family-centered discharge planning
• Surgical NICU and HIE patient experience is preferred
• Any scrub color is acceptable
