Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Family Birth Center (Labor & Delivery) position requiring a NM or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience.
Details
- Work setting is a hospital-based Family Birth Center (FBC/L&D unit)
- Patient population includes antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, as well as newborns
- Antepartum care includes triage of patients >20 weeks, fetal evaluation, and assessment for conditions such as PTL, preeclampsia, ROM, vaginal bleeding, and acute/critical conditions
- Intrapartum care includes labor assessment, fetal monitoring, medication administration (e.g., Pitocin, mag sulfate, labetalol, insulin), and preparation for vaginal or cesarean delivery
- Postpartum and newborn care includes assessment of vaginal and cesarean delivery patients, newborn medication administration, phototherapy, hypoglycemia care, and stabilization of critically ill newborns for transport
- Schedule is 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week (3x12), 0.9 FTE
- Weekend and on-call availability required as needed
- Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
- EMR: Epic experience preferred; on-site training available
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS (must be through AHA, AHSI, or American Red Cross), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Minimum 2 years of current L&D or FBC nursing experience required
- ADN or ASN degree required
- English proficiency required (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent employees of the health system must have a minimum one-year gap before being considered as a traveler
Additional Information
- Candidate must pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test during the first week of the assignment; failure to pass will result in dismissal
- Candidate's date of birth (DOB) and Social Security Number (SSN) will be required upon offer acceptance
- All required certifications must be current and available for review during the hiring process
- An ASAP start is preferred
