Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a large academic teaching hospital in Indiana, requiring a minimum of 18 months of experience and flexibility with weekend and floating requirements.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Med/Surg Telemetry unit serving a cardiovascular surgical, peripheral vascular surgical, arrhythmia, endocarditis, CHF, and overflow patient population
- Staffing ratio of 1:5–6
- Travelers are required to work 50% of weekends during their contract based on unit needs
- Travelers may be floated to different levels of care including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital — resources are provided when floating to higher levels of care
- Refusal to float may result in contract termination
- Cerner EMR — experience required
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
- BLS certification required — AHA or RQI accepted, must be current
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- IV start skills required
- Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
- Cerner charting experience required
Additional Information
- This is an academic teaching facility — travelers must be willing to precept or have students shadow them during their assignment
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs, with training and resources provided
- Up to 5 days of RTO can be auto-approved
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Former permanent or PRN employees of this health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
