Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Overflow unit position in Oklahoma, requiring at least 1 year of RN experience and an active OK or compact RN license.

Details

• Position is based in a 3rd Floor Inpatient Overflow unit functioning as a mixed Med/Surg (MS) and Step-Down (SD) unit
• Day shift schedule working 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• Step-Down (SD) experience is preferred, as is charge nurse experience
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC) required
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required — all certifications must be AHA-issued
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care across a patient population ranging from routine to complex cases
• Basic computer skills required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates will not be considered

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include managing an assigned patient group, documenting responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments, monitoring physiological data, administering medications, and managing IV infusions and blood products
• Collaborates with physicians during patient exams and minor diagnostic procedures, and delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
• Educates patients and families on care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge planning, and makes referrals to appropriate personnel as needed
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible to return, as workers are only permitted one extension for a total of 26 weeks
• Compliance with onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, medical requirements) must be completed promptly after offer acceptance — the facility does not negotiate start dates and will not accommodate delays
