Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level III trauma center in Connecticut, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience and an active CT or Compact RN license.

Details

• Short-term acute care hospital setting with 252 staffed beds, part of the Yale New Haven Health System
• Med/Surg unit with a focus on general medical-surgical patient care
• Skills utilized include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, respiratory care, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Charting via Epic (experience preferred)
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required as needed
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required; CT license takes 15–21 business days to issue, so candidates should apply early
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required (candidates with 1.5 years may be considered if they have Level I trauma or travel experience)
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• 1 professional reference required for consideration
• Candidates must have a clean nursing license with no prior disciplinary actions
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include general Med/Surg nursing care with cardiac monitoring, emergency and rapid response team participation, IV therapy, respiratory care, and strict adherence to isolation precautions
• Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted
• COVID vaccine exemptions are accepted for religious or medical reasons only
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved; any pre-planned time off prior to the start date should be disclosed upfront
• Completion of non-billable orientation modules is required prior to start (approximately 2 hours) and annually thereafter
