Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medicine Specialty Unit position requiring Med/Surg and Stepdown experience, with prior travel nursing experience and day shift availability.

• Position is based in a hospital Medicine Specialty Unit
• Cares for a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex
• Day shift schedule, working 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license (Oklahoma state license or eNLC compact license) required
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Med/Surg and Stepdown experience required
• Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required
• Level I trauma experience preferred
• ADN from an accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred
• Proficiency in professional nursing theory, practices, and clinical techniques
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include assuming care for an assigned patient group, documenting patient responses to interventions and treatments, administering medications, and managing IV infusions and blood products
• Collaborates with physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures, and monitors physiological data
• Engages patients and families in care planning, discharge education, and hospital procedure orientation
• Delegates tasks to support staff and makes referrals to appropriate personnel as needed
• All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates will not be considered
• Travelers who have previously worked at this facility may only extend once for a maximum total of 26 weeks; a 6-month separation period is required before being eligible for another contract
• Compliance requirements are strictly enforced — candidates should be prepared to begin onboarding immediately upon acceptance
